Between Jacksonville Beach, the Intracoastal, and the St. John's River, all the access to water makes it a perfect area for fireworks and all things July 4th related. And after many cancellations in the year of 2020, including fireworks and the 4th celebrations, I think we are all ready to celebrate our nation's independence. The city of Jacksonville is celebrating big this year with firework displays at multiple locations throughout the area, and you are sure to find a spot to watch the show close to your military apartment. Each show will be held on Sunday, July 4th starting at 9:45 pm. Locations include Downtown Jacksonville, St. John's Town Center, FSCJ North Campus, The Avenues Mall, Trinity Baptist Church, and Ed Austin Regional Park. If you plan to attend the Downtown Jacksonville location, there will also be a family fun zone, food trucks, bars, and a concert starting at 5 pm at the Riverfront Plaza.
Not much goes better together than a day at the beach and Independence Day. But of course, add in a fireworks show, and let's call it complete. The Jacksonville Beach show will be held on Sunday, July 4th, at 9 pm from the Pier Parking Lot. That parking lot will be closed to the public, and they posted a reminder to consider the heavy traffic around the event when coming out for the show that evening.
St. Augustine is located just south of Jacksonville in St. John's County. It is a popular spot for history and the beach. Plus, they have one of the biggest fireworks displays on the east coast, "Fireworks Over the Matanzas" you won't want to miss. The event will also be held on Sunday, July 4th, and consists of a patriotic concert starting at 6 pm, with the fireworks beginning at 9:30 pm. After the fireworks, visit one of the historic restaurants or pubs in the area.
