Christen is a rare Florida native, originally from Jacksonville, and has been residing in Tampa for what seems like forever. An alumna of USF (go Bulls!), Christen studied theater production and creative writing for a few more years than was necessary - until her advisor told her to either graduate already as a seventh-year senior, or lose his email & leave him alone for all eternity. She reallyliked being a college student, and is vaguely considering returning for a Master's degree in eleventh-century sea shanties.
In her many years at USF, Christen lived in several wacky and wild dwellings with a variety of weirdo roommates. Her favorite apartment was the four-bedroom, three-bathroom townhouse with an iron spiral staircase she shared with 4 guys, two cats, and plenty of hippie neighbors who wandered in and out. That one was nicknamed "The Pit". The oldest place Christen ever lived was a lovely house on the Hillsborough River in Sulfur Springs that was built in 1920… and had no air-conditioning. Christen and her roommates made up for the lack of central air by swimming a lot in the ancient pool and kayaking in the river.
These days Christen lives in a pool house in the unfashionable northwestern spiral of Seminole Heights with her partner, a robotic software developer. In her daytime job, Christen is the Executive Assistant to the owner of Slovenly Recordings, which is fun as hell.
She is also an award-winning playwright and a certified yoga instructor. Some of her previous shows – like The Ballad of Hipster McBigBallsand Chapel Perilous– premiered at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts. Christen won the "Most Viewed" award in the 2020 Tampa International Fringe Festival for her show, and two top awards in 2019 for her smash hit comedy, Sexy Sexy Murder. You can catch the first episode of her newest dirty and hilarious show – Sexo y Violencia: The Secret History of Tampa– online soon as part of Jobsite Theater's Digital Shortsprogram.
