Jacksonville is the biggest city in Florida. So, there are plenty of apartments and neighborhoods to choose from. Anybody can find what they are looking for in a city this size. Here on RentJax we have the inside scoop on all the best apartments in the right neighborhood for you!
The Northside was once upon a time an industrialized area. Now, this is more of a residential area. Apartments and houses are in close proximity to the airport, Jacksonville Zoo, Huguenot Park. and downtown. The convenient location has turned quiet section of town to desirable riverfront living in neighborhoods like Yellowbluff and Oceanway. Apartments in the Northside are affordable because of their location. But while downtown is mere minutes away, you're still a good bit outside the rest of the city, and the Northside remains the most rural section. This area is mostly occupied by first time home buyers and families with children.
Riverside is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Jacksonville. Apartments in Riverside are located on oak-shaded streets with neighboring homes from the early 20th century. It's a short commute to downtown and the St. Johns River is nearby. All the best restaurants, clubs and edgy clothing shops, give Riverside a fun, young vibe that's popular with the young professional crowd. This neighborhood is ideal for anyone working in or near downtown and healthcare professionals that work at St. Vincent.
Southside is idyllic for any family. A low crime rate, good schools, access to Interstate 95 and the presence of community based activities and plenty of parks and recreation areas have made the Southside ripe for growth. While neighborhoods range from tracts of working-class, single-family homes to upscale, gated golf communities there is an overall theme of community.
San Marco Square is a cultured shopping, dining and entertainment district just south of downtown and north of Mandarin. Apartments and homes in the area were built to resemble the Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy. Shops and restaurants stretch along the Y-shaped intersection of Atlantic and San Marco Boulevard. Area streets are lined with historic estates, charming mansions and trendy bistros. If you are into the art scene and entertainment that is off the beaten path, than this is the neighborhood for you!
Orange Park is known for reasonable rental prices in more rural settings. Neighborhoods like Fleming Island and Doctors Inlet offer convenient dining and shopping. The Naval Air Station is here and there are many undeveloped scenic areas. If you're looking for a ton of space at minimal cost, this is your side of town. A commute to downtown or the Southside for work is less than 45-minute drive. If you will be spending your work days on the Naval Base, this is a short commute for you.
